Dr Vicki McCarthy

Dr Vicki McCarthy is a paediatrician based in Sippy Downs on the Sunshine Cost providing expert care for children with ADHD, autism, developmental delays, and behavioural concerns, with a keen interest neonatal health.

Dr Vicki McCarthy is a general paediatrician based in Sippy Downs, Sunshine Coast, specialising in the health, growth, and development of babies, children, and teenagers. She provides comprehensive care for medical, developmental, and behavioural conditions, with a special focus on children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD.

Dr McCarthy particularly enjoys working with neonates and infants, while also supporting children as they grow into adolescence. Her approach is holistic and outcomes-focused, empowering families with the guidance and strategies they need to help their children thrive.

She completed her Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Science and Physiology) in 2006 and Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) in 2010 at The University of Queensland (UQ). She later achieved a Diploma of Child Health (DCH) at the University of Sydney, a Master of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (MPHTM) at James Cook University, and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2020.

Dr McCarthy has trained and worked in metropolitan, regional, and rural Queensland hospitals, including the Royal Children’s Hospital, Queensland Children’s Hospital, Redcliffe Hospital, Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Rockhampton Hospital, and Mackay Hospital. She is passionate about teaching and served as an Associate Lecturer at UQ School of Clinical Medicine from 2019–2022.

Known for her dedication, warmth, and expertise, Dr McCarthy strives to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families, helping her patients reach their full potential through treatment, therapy, and ongoing care.

Outside of work, Dr McCarthy is a mother to a young child and enjoys spending time with her family, exploring nature, and reading.
